March Favourites

March Favourites

Hi guys!

It’s that time again; we’ve entered another month and find ourselves constantly wondering where on earth the last few months have gone, and striking up small talk with strangers about how it ‘feels like Christmas was only last month!’.

To try and remind myself that March did in fact happen, I decided to make a list of all my favourite things throughout the month – whether it be beauty products, clothes, tv shows, books – and put them in a blog post, so here goes!

Urban decay ‘heat’ palette
I have had this palette since Christmas but, due to having eyelash extensions on for a few months, I wasn’t able to experiment with it as much as I would have liked as I found it really tricky to apply eye makeup with them on. However, since having my extensions off I’ve been able to have a little play with this palette and I have to say I LOVE it. I was really worried I’d never use it because the colours are quite ‘out there’ in comparison to my usual makeup look as I like to keep my makeup quite natural, but that is so not the case! All of the shades are so beautiful and compliment each other really well, and if you don’t want a ‘heavy’ look you can absolutely use this palette and still keep it quite subtle.

Strip lashes
I can honestly say that before this month I had never in my life tried strip lashes; just looking at them I knew I’d never be able to get them on! However, since having my eyelash extensions out – and consequently losing most of my natural lashes – my eyes have felt so naked I just had to get some. I picked up a pair of eyelure lashes in 114 and find that they are perfect for my eye shape and have worn them every day since! I always thought fake lashes gave such an OTT effect but actually they can look quite natural – it’s all down to the ones you get. I find that 114 is perfect for me as they’re still quite subtle but they make me feel so glam! My natural lashes still haven’t grown back entirely but even when they do I think I’ll still be wearing strips every day!

Soap and glory facial wash
I’m constantly trying new facial washes – it seems as though I can’t go into boots or superdrug without coming out with a new one! – but I always end up going back to this one in the end. I just always find that after using it my skin feels so refreshed and clean, plus it smells heavenly. I do get quite dry skin sometimes so the fact that it also exfoliates is fantastic. I find that it’s really gentle and not at all like other exfoliating products that can be really harsh and practically peel your skin off.

Zara perfume – Ortiental
I have been using this almost every day for the past year. I just absolutely love this perfume! It’s very floral but also quite sweet? And is an absolute bargain at £9.99. I also find that, unlike EVERY cheaper perfume out there, the scent is strong enough to last an entire outing (although I do like to carry a smaller bottle of it in my bag with me just to refresh if it’s a particularly long day).

Armani perfume – Because it’s you
Now I don’t actually own this perfume (yet), but any time I see it I immediately have to spritz myself with it. It’s just such a gorgeous, sweet scent. I often find that perfume’s as feminine and fruity as this one don’t last for a very long time – Jimmy Choo ‘Blossom’ being a good example of this – however that is most definitely not the case with this perfume.

Pinafore dresses
This may be a bit of a random one, but I am LIVING for pinafore dresses at the moment! I just find that they are absolutely perfect for this time of year as it’s starting to feel like spring (despite the snow!) so I find myself wanting to wear more dresses, but it’s still quite cold so jumpers are still pretty much a necessity. I just think a jumper and pinafore collab is such a cute, girly look, and you can still wrap up nice and warm with it!

I am loving this pinafore from Miss Selfridge (looks great paired with a mustard jumper), and this pinafore from Topshop (looks great paired with a while turtle neck).

Calvin Klein candle – Meadow
I absolutely LOVE this candle scent and think it is absolute perfect for this time of year. It just smells so fresh and floral, it just gets me so excited for spring and summer! I love my downtime in the evenings so having one of these candles burning, with all my fairy lights on, and reading a good book is just heavenly.

Jane the virgin – TV show
Having watched almost ALL of the TV shows available on Netflix, I decided to give this one a go on a whim one day and it very quickly took over my life. I just love everything about this show and am actually already re-watching it! It’s so funny and lighthearted but also has some quite gripping story lines. All of the actors are so talented and I now follow almost all of them on social media to see what else they are going to appear in. There is actually a narrator in the show and I was so obsessed with it that it got to the point where I was at work one day, made a mistake, and practically HEARD the narrator’s voice in my head mocking me – at this point I think it’s fair to call it an obsession!

Morganville Vampires – book series
I read the first book of this series when I was about 12 and every year since have counted down the days until the next book release of the series. The very last book was released in 2016 and although I have had it on my bookshelf all this time, I have been so reluctant to read it because I don’t want it to be the end! However, I decided the bite the bullet and do it and it was AMAZING. Although I’m so sad that I don’t have another book to look forward to, I’ve rediscovered my love for the series and am re-reading them all over again! It feels so nostalgic but at the same time it’s amazing the learn the characters all over again. Rachel Caine is an incredibly talented writer.
The series is based on a town full of vampires but isn’t written like every other cheesy vampire novel (although every vampire novel has a level of cheesiness), it’s full of science and mythology too.

You can buy the first book of the series here

So there you have it, my March favourites! Of course there were many other things I loved throughout March but these were just some of the ones that stood out for me.

Until next time!

Glossybox – January 2018

Hi guys!

So if any of you follow me on  instagram you will have seen that I signed up to Glossybox’s monthly subscriptions. I actually had only recently found out about the company and knew immediately that I just had to try it out (not that I need anymore cosmetics but hey, I’m saving money in the long run right?), and I have to say, I am not disappointed.

Being 11:30am on a Saturday, I was obviously in bed watching friends – which I am binge-watching for the 76th time to celebrate its being on netflix – when the postman knocked on the door. Moving faster than I ever have before 12pm on a Saturday, I met him at the door with enthusiasm that could only be expected if it were the pizza delivery guy.

Ripping off the cardboard revealed a beautiful pink little box, which I can’t wait to use for storing some of my existing cosmetic collection. Beneath the lid was a delicate little bow which I thought was a lovely touch.

As for the products, these are what I found…

  1. Beauty Beneath Supplements by Boots (Full Size – 4 weeks worth of capsules)
    RRP £39.99

Already here I have had more than my value for money, after paying on £13.95 for the box (including P&P).
These beauty beneath supplements are aimed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, as well as give your skin a revitalizing glow. Whilst I would not go out of my way to use these myself, my Nan was so interested in them and so I have given them to her to try. She has never used supplements before and has only ever used creams – most of which she has found have not been any good for their intended purpose.
  2. Cream Blush – Apicia (Full size)
    RRP £22

Having never tried cream blush before I am so excited to give this product a try. I don’t often use blush very heavily when applying my make up, and so have been a bit apprehensive to try cream blush. However, this one is designed to give a ‘subtle flush’, unless of course you choose to build on it for a deeper colour. The brand – Apicia – uses organic bee pollen, meaning their products aren’t harsh on skin and are designed to actually nourish it.
  3. Nail and Cuticle Energizer – Nail Medic (Full size)
    RRP £5.99

Before I say anything else about this product, I must say that is smells heavenly! I was expecting a really harsh, nail polish scent, however it actually smells super fruity. It’s also two different colours which, whilst totally confusing, is really jazzy.
This product is a reparative oil to be used on nails that are feeling brittle or dry, aiming to hydrate and strengthen them. I’m really excited to use this product as, due to wearing acrylics, my nails are in need of a bit of TLC.
  4. Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil – Dr Botanicals (Travel size)
    RRP £55 * Full size
    £35 * Travel size

This Facial Oil is enriched with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants; all of which work together to ‘rejuvenate, renew and protect your complexion’. I am particularly excited to use this as I have heard so many things about Dr Botanicals products but have never actually got round to trying any myself. My complexion is also something that I try many different products for due to it being so uneven, however, I’ve never found anything that has worked to even it out – hopefully this will do just the trick!
  5. Green Tea Primer – Evelyn Iona Cosmetics (Full size)
    RRP £22

I’ve seen so many products lately containing green tea extract and have been really wanting to try something out so this product is one I am also really excited to use. I’m also almost out of primer so this is fantastic timing! It contains avocado oil which is really hydrating for your skin, and is commonly in treatments for acne, blackheads, and eczema.

Overall the contents of this months glossybox should have cost £124.98 so is fantastic value for money at just £13.95!

My first experience of glossybox has not left me disappointed and I can’t wait to try all of these fantastic products.

Until next time!
